Booking your flight to Australia

I am an avid flight searcher. I will randomly search flights to different parts of the world just for fun. When it comes to booking a trip, I am constantly searching. I have heard that it isn't good to do this, but I believe it is the best way to find the lowest price.

I always use Google flights to search for the best price from all airlines and for different dates. You can also track flights and get updates via email if you have specific dates you are looking for!

I lucked out when booking my flights to Australia from NY and got them for around $1000/RT both times.

My first trip was with Hawaiian Airlines. I really enjoyed my trips with them. The flight crew was extremely friendly, the seats were comfortable and the food wasn't terrible. Hawaiian Airlines does NOT have wifi though. It wasn't terrible, but it was two 12/hr flights with no communication. Honolulu airport is also very spread out and I had to walk over a mile to get to the exit.

The flight from NY to Hawaii usually has a long layover which you'll have to get a hotel for, but on the way back- there is only a 5 hour layover.

My second trip- I took Delta. This was such an easy trip. I flew from NY to LAX and had an hour layover and then flew from LAX to SYD. The second flight was run by Virgin Australia, but all booked through Delta. It was an overnight flight from LAX which left at about 2AM NY time. They had alcohol included and two meals served on this flight. I slept most of the flight, but it was a good one. On the way back- both flights were run by Delta. We were given a menu and served a welcome drink. We got to choose an appetizer, entree and dessert plus drinks! I was extremely surprised because usually this type of service is given to business class.

I will say though- the flight crew was not the friendliest at the start, but they lightened up. I was leaving my boyfriend after spending 4.5 weeks with him and I was very upset during the flight. I was crying for some of it and they ladies all took care of me. I did appreciate that!

All in all- I would recommend both Delta and Hawaiian Airlines for this long haul!
