Tropi Tacos

Tropi Taco's is a local restaurant with true authentic Mexican food. It is located pretty much in the middle of Tulum Center. It is popular with locals and tourists because it is just that good. Besides the food being spectacular, the prices are as well. I didn't dine in this restaurant, but I ordered the paradilla for two which came with 4 types of meat, a ham and cheese mix, guac and tortillas and 4 tacos to go and the total was only about $13. We had a picnic on our balcony. It was fresh and delicious and the amount of food for the price was the best value I had in Tulum.

La malquerida

La Malquerida(closed as of 2021)

La Malquerida was my go to spot back in 2017 when I spent a month in Tulum. The staff was always so nice and friendly and I always felt safe being there alone. They have really good food and the atmospshere is great. They've recently expanded and now have two bars inside with swing seating. I've kept in touch with one of the guys who work there, Armando, and my friend went to visit him when she visited. He was still there when I came back this time. He always makes napkin flowers and made me one as soon as I came in. If you happen to visit this restaurant, ask for Armando and tell him I say hi! :D He will probably make you a napkin flower also.

El milagrito

El Milagrito

Another place I loved to hang out at during my 2017 stay was El Milagrito. It is a smaller sized restaurant with great drinks, food, TV's all around to watch sports and a fun vibe. I came back on my most recent trip and I was equally as pleased as I had been back in the day. They have an extensive menu with very affordable, tasty food. The service is always great and they are very accomodating.

Restaurante Estrada

I came to Estrada on my first night in Tulum. After traveling for 12 hours, I wanted to have something near by the hotel. I found Estrada prior to visiting with a google search and it had very good reviews and the photos looked great. Estrada isn't fancy by any means, but that isn't necessary to have good food. Sometimes the best places are the ones without all the frills. From the moment we walked in, the service was amazing. The two guys working there were beyond friendly and patient with us as we looked through the menu. They gave us a bowl of chips with two salsas and after pretty much not eating all day, we devoured them and they offered us more. We ordered the Pulpo al Ajillo and Grilled Fish Fillet. Both came with sides and were very tasty! The portions were a little bit smaller than I expected after seeing many photos online, but the flavors were perfect. A table next to us ordered the lobster and a shrimp entree and we were drooling from a far. Before leaving, they gave us complimentary tequila shots! I would recommend visiting here for great seafood and a good vibe.

La estancia de jujena

La Estancia de Jujena is an Argentinian Gril in the center of Tulum. They have almost anything you can imagine on the menu from steaks to empanadas.  I have only gone there for breakfasts as it was nice and quiet to work from. They have such a cute look inside and they way they serve your coffee is the best. I'm all about aesthetics and they definitely satisfy my need for that. I always ordered the Huevos al Gusto and they were always perfect.

Xaman ha Gastro Terrace

Xaman ha was located on the street of my Airbnb and I walked past it everyday. It is a big space with a bunch of different food vendors around. They have everything from arepas and tacos to pizza and sushi. Unfortunately, when I finally got around to to stopping by - it was late and a lot of the places were closed. It is sucha cool concept and the night we went by- they had a large screen up for a movie night. It is definitely something in Tulum that I would recommend doing.
